Eirini Kostopoulou, daughter of Panagiotis, received her Medical Degree from the University of Patras, graduating first in her class in 2003, completed her rural medical service in 2005, worked as a Scientific Associate at the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology of the Pediatric Clinic of the University of Patras for 5.5 years, completed her specialty training in Pediatrics at the University General Hospital of Patras in 2013, was awarded her PhD from the University of Patras in 2013 and completed her training in the subspecialty of Pediatric Endocrinology in the United Kingdom in 2016 at University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. In 2016, she began working as a specialized Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology of the University General Hospital of Patras, and in 2024 she was elected Assistant Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Medical School of the University of Patras.
She has attended 200 conferences, both national and international, and 70 seminars. She has extensive teaching experience with undergraduate and postgraduate students and a broad research record, with 30 oral presentations and 50 lectures as an invited speaker. Her research activity has so far resulted in 110 poster presentations and more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. She is a researcher in multiple national and international studies, as well as in an international research program for the identification of rare genetic obesity disorders through genetic testing.
She is a member of multiple societies, including the Hellenic Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology, the Hellenic Endocrine Society, the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology — ESPE, the Endocrine Society, the Hellenic Diabetes Association and the Hellenic Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Obesity.
